Why Drinking Water First Thing After Waking, Has Huge Health Benefits

“Did You Know…that drinking water in the morning immediately upon waking up can have amazing therapeutic effects for a multitude of health conditions—ranging from pain to asthma to cancer?” This remarkable water therapy originates from ancient Ayurvedic medicine. The Sages of India termed this therapy, Usha Paana Chikitsa, which from the Sanskrit, roughly translates to, “early morning water treatment.” It has long been known that drinking water first thing in the morning on an empty stomach purifies the body’s internal system. An especially important result of this treatment is that it cleanses the colon, which makes the body much more able to absorb nutrients from food.

More recently in the 1970’s, now famous, Dr. Fereydoon Batmanghelidj, re-discovered this ancient knowledge and found through his own research, that water can naturally heal us from diseases like high blood pressure, arthritis, asthma, autoimmune disorders, diabetes and migraines using what he calls: water therapy. Born in Iran in 1931, Dr. Batmanghelidj, graduated from St. Mary’s Hospital Medical School of London University, where he studied under Nobel Prize winner, Sir Alexander Fleming.

He eventually returned to Iran where he was imprisoned in 1979 as a political prisoner for over 2 1/2 years at the infamous, Evin Prison. While there, he discovered the healing powers of water and successfully treated 3,000 fellow inmates suffering from stress-induced peptic ulcer disease using simply water. He reported his findings in the Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology in June 1983 and the New York Times Science Watch, in turn, reported his discovery on June 21, 1983.
In 1982, Dr. Batmanghelidj escaped from Iran and came to America and began to research the effect of chronic unintentional dehydration on the human body and he continued to publish his groundbreaking data in 1991 and 1992. According to Dr. Batmanghelidj, the body’s natural thirst signals are often mistaken for signs and symptoms of other illnesses. Over our lifespan we gradually become chronically dehydrated. If we treat this root problem, we may be able to avoid unnecessary and invasive procedures and medications.

The water treatment method is as follows:

1. Right after waking up in the morning, drink about (1) 8oz glass of fluoride-free water. If you’re drinking water from a faucet, chances are it’s inevitable. Other options are distilled water (make sure to add minerals back into the water, including some baking soda for alkalinity) and reverse osmosis. You must do this upon waking and on an ‘empty stomach.’

2. Do not eat or drinking for 45 minutes after drinking the water. After 45 minutes has gone by, you’re free to eat and drink as you please.

3. Drink a cup of water half 1/2 hour before meals. Drink again 2 hours after each meal.

4. Feel your health start to improve.

According to the Japanese Medical Society, this treatment would take 10 days to treat constipation, 10 days to treat some gastric issues, and 30 days to treat high blood pressure.

Here are a few hard facts about the benefits of water to help motivate you to drink at least a 8oz glass first thing in the morning:

 1. It jump starts up your metabolism. Drinking at least one large glass of water first thing in the morning, has been shown to rev up your metabolism by a whopping 24% for 90 minutes.
2. You’re dehydrated when you wake up! After 7-8 hours of sleep, chances are, you wake up dehydrated in the morning. Drinking water, helps make new muscle and blood cells, and can increase the flow of oxygen, all of which are energizing.
3. Water helps your body flush out toxins. “Your kidneys do an amazing job of cleansing and ridding your body of toxins as long as your intake of fluids is adequate”, according to Kenneth Ellner, an Atlanta-based dermatologist. Getting fluids into your body right after your wake up will help your body flush out toxins first thing in the morning.” Flushing out the toxins and impurities is even easier when you add fresh lemon to your glass, since lemon can increase the rate of urination, allowing for maximum enzyme function and helping to detoxify the liver.
4. Your brain tissue is 75% water. When you’re not properly hydrated, your brain operates on less fuel, and you can feel drained, or experience fatigue or mood fluctuations.
5. You’ll eat less. One study showed that people who drink a glass of water before every meal lost four and a half pounds over a three-month period, because “it fills up the stomach with a substance that has zero calories”, and people “feel full as a result”.
6. Immunity. As cold and flu season comes around the corner, it’s vital to up your intake of water. If you tend to get sick often, you might not be drinking enough H20. Staying hydrated can maintain the health of your lymphatic system—which directly affects how your body fights off infections. Studies have also shown that lack of water in the body—dehydration—can cause increased cortisol levels, stress, and sickness.

13 Ways to Improve Your Life | SUCCESS (by Jim Rohn)

Improve your Life

1.  Face Your Fears
2.  Exercise your willpower to change your direction
3.  Admit your mistakes
4.  Refine your goals
5.  Believe in yourself
6.  Ask for wisdom
7.  Conserve your time
8.  Invest your profits
9.  Live with intensity
10. Find your place.
11. Demand integrity from yourself
12. Welcome the disciplines
13. Fight for what's right

1. Face your fears.

That's how you conquer them. Don't dismiss them; face them. Say, Here's what I'm afraid of. I wonder what I could do to change that. Face your fears today.

2. Exercise your willpower to change direction.

You don't have to keep doing what you've been doing the last six
years if it's not yielding the benefits you want. Pick a new destination
and go that way. Use your willpower to start the process. You don't
have to repeat last year. Clean up the errors. Invest it now in the next
year. Watch it make the difference.

3. Admit your mistakes.

Sometimes you have to admit them to others. Here's one of the best
phrases in the English language: "I'm sorry." Those words could start a
whole new relationship. They could start two people going in a whole new
direction. Admit your mistakes to yourself. You don't have to babble
about them to everyone in the neighborhood. But it doesn't hurt you to
sit down and have a conversation with yourself and say, There's no use kidding myself. Here's where I really am. I've got pennies in my pocket and I've got nothing in the bank. That's what I said after a Girl Scout left my door. I had a conversation with myself and I said, I don't want this to happen anymore.

4. Refine your goals.

Start the process. Set some higher goals. Reach for some higher purpose. Go for something beyond what you thought you could do.

Turmeric is a golden-yellow spice originally from India. Get high-quality Turmeric Powder at your local health food store.   It is one of my favorite all-time, remedies for many different ailments. It can be used as an anti-inflammatory for people suffering from arthritis, joint pain, and muscle pain.   Personally, I used it to help myself with a case of pleurisy, I had that lasted almost 2 months. When nothing else seemed to work, I turned to this paste and in 3-4 days I was fine. (Note: all results are different and this is not medical advise. Always check with your healthcare provider if you have a serious medical condition.)  Turmeric paste may also help aid in digestion, and works as an anti-parasitic, and anti-bacterial.

INGREDIENTS:  (to make the paste)
How to make Golden Paste:
½ cup turmeric powder
1 cup spring water (+ ½ extra if necessary)
1.5 tsp ground black pepper*

(Why add Black Pepper? It is beneficial to take black pepper with turmeric because it helps the body absorb turmeric.A 1992 report in Clinical Pharmacokinetics on black pepper explained why some studies did not show the same benefits of turmeric as the others did. The human body has a tough time utilizing curcumin effectively.  However just a small amount of black pepper boosted bio-availability of curcumin by up to 2000%, the study shows.)
Cook this paste for 7-9 minutes.

The Golden Paste is a turmeric-based paste that taken orally provides health benefits to humans as well as animals (dogs and horses). Turmeric, known for is anti-inflammatory properties and used medicinally for over 4,000 years, is excellent for arthritis, skin health, digestion, immune system, and even cancer. Recent studies have confirmed that it may be as effective as 14 different prescription drugs – without the adverse side effects.

After you have the actual Turmeric paste, you can turn it into a tea or "Golden Milk." (Personally, I used Almond Milk for flavor.)

How to Make Golden Milk:
1 teaspoon of organic coconut oil
1/4 teaspoon of turmeric paste
1 cup of almond milk
Organic, raw, unfiltered honey for taste

Mix all the ingredients together over medium heat except the honey. Do not allow it to boil. Add a bit of honey for taste (after) and drink as soon as it is cool enough.

See video for instructions:

A 2010 peer-reviewed a research article published in The International Journal of Biochemistry & Cell Biology concluded that “the various effects of curcumin has been widely studied in Western systems of medicine for decades, and has been found to possess antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. Considering that inflammation plays a major role in most chronic illnesses, anti-inflammatory agents are needed for prevention purposes. Because curcumin inhibits multiple pro-inflammatory pathways and is affordable, this phyto-chemical should be further explored for prevention and treatment of various chronic diseases.”

Turmeric and Arthritis: In traditional Chinese and Indian Ayurveda medicine, turmeric is used to treat arthritis. A 2006 study found the turmeric helps reduce join inflammation. A different study from the same year found turmeric to have anti-arthritic effect. And a 2012 study provided evidence that curcumin might even be more effective for rheumatoid arthritis than anti-inflammatory drugs.

Turmeric for Digestive Issues: Curcumin stimulates the gallbladder to produce more bile, which may aid digestion. The German Commission E, a scientific advisory board equivalent to the FDA, approved turmeric for digestive problems.

A 2006 double-blind, placebo-controlled trial found curcumin helpful for keeping ulcerative colitis in remission. And a 2013 paper concluded that curcumin is “a very promising new therapeutic option for the treatment of gastrointestinal and hepatic diseases for which present therapies are largely unsatisfactory.”

Turmeric as First Aid: Turmeric can be used to treat wounds, cuts, rashes, bruises, insect bites, and swelling. A 2014 article from Life Sciences concluded that topical application of curcumin has a great therapeutic effect on skin wounds. Also, a 2006 study concluded that it accelerated wound healing.

Vitamin B12 plays a key role in maintaining a healthy body and a healthy mind.  B-12 is a water-soluble vitamin that keeps your nerves and red blood cells healthy. It is responsible for the smooth functioning of several critical body processes. It is possible for the body to develop a vitamin B12 deficiency. This deficiency is usually reported with symptoms of fatigue.
Few of us have diets that give our bodies everything we need to keep our bodies healthy.  This is where a vitamin supplementation of B-12 is essential for our body's health.   Getting the proper amount of B vitamins is an essential part of your overall health, and Vitamin B12 is one that has particular benefits to multiple systems in your body

In a recent article on LiveScience, it was stated that low levels of B12 may have an effect in Aging, Autism and Schizophrenia.  The brains of the elderly and younger people with autism and schizophrenia may share a common link: Both have low levels of vitamin B12, researchers say.

Here are some of the Top Health Benefits of Vitamin B 12 are:
  • Energy Production - It is needed to convert carbohydrates into glucose in the body, thus leading to energy production and a decrease in fatigue and lethargy in the body.
  • Reduces Depression- Many vitamins including Vitamin D have been said to help with depression, and Vitamin B-12 is no different. This is such an important reason to make sure that all of your vitamins are at optimal levels. Only your doctor can let you know for sure, and it’s a relatively quick and easy process to have done. That way you’ll know exactly which vitamins you need more of, and which ones you’re OK on, instead of playing the guessing game.
  • Maintains Healthy Digestive System - It helps maintain a healthy digestive system. Vitamin B12 also protects against heart disease by curbing and improving unhealthy cholesterol levels, protecting against stroke, and high blood pressure.
  • Promotes Healthy Skin - It is essential for healthy skin, hair, and nails. It helps in cell reproduction and constant renewal of the skin.
  • Protects Against Some Cancers - Vitamin B 12 helps protect against cancers including breast, colon, lung, and prostate cancer.
  •  Helps Prevent Alzheimer’s Disease- Vitamin B-12 has been specifically credited for helping to treat and also prevent the occurrence of Alzheimer’s disease.
The National Institute of Health’s (NIH) Dietary Office estimates that somewhere between 1.5–15 percent of people in the U.S. are deficient in vitamin B12. Other studies, like one done by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in 2000, indicate that this number might be even higher, with up to 39 percent of the population possibly suffering from a vitamin B12 deficiency.

alfaB12 is an essential vitamin that’s crucial for addressing adrenal fatigue, multiple metabolic functions — including enzyme production, DNA synthesis and hormonal balance — and maintaining healthy nervous and cardiovascular systems.Aside from taking your Vitamin B-12 supplement,  make sure that your body is getting enough vitamin B12 by incorporating these foods in your diet: liver, meat, eggs, milk, cheese and some varieties of fish.

A healthy diet and supplementation of alfaB-12, can go a long way in living a healthy life.

alfaB-12 is a dietary supplement that when taken daily, can aid in a B12 deficiency.  It is a great tasting dissolvable tablet sweetened with monk fruit that melts away under the tongue distributing powerful vitamin B12 into your blood stream.
A healthy diet and supplementation of alfaB-12, can go a long way in living a healthy life.

Low B12 Seen in Aging, Autism and Schizophrenia

The brains of the elderly and younger people with autism and schizophrenia may share a common link: Both have low levels of vitamin B12, researchers say.
The facts that blood levels of B12 do not always mirror brain levels of the vitamin, and that brain levels decrease more over the years than blood levels, may imply that various types of neurological diseases — such as old-age dementia and the disorders of autism and schizophrenia — could be related to poor uptake of vitamin B12 from the blood into the brain, the scientists said.

The findings, reported last month in the journal PLOS ONE, support an emerging theory that the human brain uses vitamin B12 in a tightly regulated manner to control gene expression and to spur neurological development at key points during life, from the brain's high-growth periods during fetal development and early childhood, through the refining of neural networks in adolescence, and then into middle and old age.

Vitamin B12, also called cobalamin, plays a crucial role in blood formation and the normal functioning of the nervous system. The vitamin is found in foods derived from animal sources, although some plant-based foods can be fortified with B12.
[6 Nutritional Supplements to aid in your body's repair]

In the new study, scientists led by Richard Deth, a professor of pharmacology at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, examined the brains of more than 60 deceased individuals, ranging in age from a fetus in a late stage of gestation to 80 years. The study included 12 people who had autism and nine with schizophrenia.

This is the first study to compare the levels of vitamin B12 in the brain across the human lifetime, Deth told Live Science. The vitamin B12 levels in the brain were 10 times lower in the oldest people compared with the youngest, reflecting a gradual, natural, and consistent decline over the years.
For the elderly, this decline might not be a bad thing. Lower levels at advanced ages may offer some degree of brain protection by slowing cellular reactions and the production of DNA-damaging chemicals called free radicals, Deth said. In previous work with his colleague Yiting Zhang of Northeastern University in Boston, Deth found that the body's creation of biologically active forms of vitamin B12 produces free radicals as a waste product.

But levels of B12 that are too low can be detrimental. "At some point, an extreme decrease in metabolism…is not compatible with cell survival," Deth said. Similarly, lower vitamin B12 levels can have negative consequences for people of younger ages, as the brain is still developing. Deth's group found that the levels of vitamin B12 in the brains of young people with autism and in middle-age people with schizophrenia were about one-third of the levels found in similarly aged people who did not have these neurological conditions.

The people in the study with autism, who were all under age 10, had levels similar to those found in a 57-year-old. It's not clear what these low levels imply, but the uptake of too little B12 might hinder the brain's ability to establish important neural connections between regions, Deth said.
Those with schizophrenia, all between ages 36 and 49, had levels similar to those found in a 72-year-old. Although their brains were mature by this age, the below-normal level may have manifested itself during adolescence, when the seeds of schizophrenia are thought to take root. But even in middle age, the lower levels may contribute to a loss of previously normal function, Deth said.

Daniel Smith, a neurologist and vice president of innovative technology at Autism Speaks, an autism advocacy group based in New York that sponsors autism research, who was not involved in this research, said the study was interesting and worth pursuing further. However, he noted that the study remains speculative in its hypothesis that vitamin B12 deficiencies at a cellular level lead to changes associated with the autism spectrum of brain traits.

Numerous studies have searched for an association between vitamin deficiencies and neurological disorders. There has been no definitive study, however, indicating that autism and schizophrenia can be caused by a deficiency or treated through vitamin supplementation.

In fact, a study published last year in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetic found that few children with autism benefit from vitamin supplements and may be at risk for overdosing.
